I don't think the amount of gravity really matters, as long as there is a vector component of gravity that can be show radially it will stick to the lower sphere. Gravity is the only force at work, so when it's no longer working you lose contact. It's going to lose contact when it crosses the big sphere's equator. I don't have my calculator handy to resolve the angle, but that's my answer so far.
