x and y are each driven by g (x directly, y 'indirectly') and the resultant vector is dependent on the contour of the sphere. The resultant force providing y vector cannot produce a rate of travel 'outward' (along y) greater than that which the lg sphere's conture also continues to travel 'outward', as determined directly by g's affect on rate of x.
May not be the the words someone in the biz would use... but it all comes back to the reciprocity of sin and cos & a single a, doesn't it? So regardless of relative size of spheres, their wt, etc, it should behave the same... well, as far as a biology guy can tell, anyway :p
