the deal would be good for Subaru, good for the dealers and good for Generic Motors. And a death knell for SAAB.
GM's investment policy is similar to marrying the rich guy's daughter to be associated with the good name and then pimping her out to others to make money off the notoriety. The only step that's left is to dump her in a few years because no one respects a cheap, old slut.
As I said in an earlier post, Jag and Land Rover had a net benefit from their association with Ford, the products are not as pure as they were but they are better and still look like their heritage/predecessors. Porsche/Audi and Ferrari had strong private owners that retained influence when the firms were bought up, so their products retain their unique look/success. SAAB had no such advantage did not get any support from GM, they tried to steal the cachet of a respected upscale brand so they could lay it on a cheaper product and create a higher profit margin. Badge engineering. The Saabaru is proof.
The collective is winning, resistance is futile. the prices of SPG's and Aeros should continue to rise.
