during the month long sanitation worker's strike in the midst of a heatwave! Perhaps not for the greater good, but definitely for the local good. You can't pull a cart without a horse...
You don't ask it where it wants to go either.
There are those who turn the wheels of society, and those who decide which wheels to turn. With greater responsibility, it seems reasonable to me that those who's decisions affect all of our lives should earn more than those who have the luxury to simply go home at 3:30 and do the same thing agian the next day.
Once you reach the point, however, where your wealth can provide far more than you'll ever need in a lifetime it becomes concerning. Are the decision makers important enough to warrant such excess when the people who are supposed to benefit from those decisions go without?
I don't think anyone here would disagree that $300K/yr is more than enough to live a very comfortable life, but salaries of top CEO's are in the millions. Even the sports "heroes" who are merely tools of distraction command more. Funny that politicians, who are supposed to be making the REAL important decisions, probably earn less than $300K/yr. All hope is not lost. I am aware of the fact that the people earning the highest salaries would disagree with my figure of $300K
To return to the original topic, I agree that while some salary increase is reasonable, As long as there are others with nothing, then that is simply not acceptable
