Can't advise you on specific models, but take into account the following factors, before you buy:
1. How it fits in your hand. You'll be surprised how many of the new small cameras are just awkward to hold steady...
2. Are you thinking of editing shots on your PC afterwards? Then don't bother too much about how many special effects functions are on the camera. Those effects can be added via many good PC editing software.
3. In order to do 2., you must of course get a Digital Video camcorder. Make sure that it has Firewire connection. Some camcorderss have left this function out. But it is the only sensible way to transfer your film to PC and back to tape.
4. 20X times zoom can come at a price in terms of lower image quality and/or increased front-end weight. Can be very unsteady at maximum zoom length when taking far away pictures.
5. And whatever you do, check out the price of spare batteries. You'll need them, but some are astronomical in price...
Enjoy the shoots!
