I'm talking about #2 home heating oil.

What you are describing sounds like #4 oil used in large comercial boilers. Industrial and comercial boilers will burn #4 or #6 oil. #6 is like tar, it must be heated to flow.
#2 heating oil and #2 diesel are the same except for the motor fuel tax paid on "diesel". My dad had a home heating oil and service business when I was a kid and before I became a programmer I was a diesel mechanic. I also drove tank trucks for a while and delivered diesel and heating oil which were loaded from the same spout. the only difference is the tax.
