Yes, I think that wiper melter is a great idea! So annoying when a chunk of slushy ice gets stuck on the wiper blade and then makes streaks... the whole bloody drive!!

I should probably give the newer outback another try next time we look at cars. Things might be better now with the CVT - the older automatic trannies were my biggest stumbling block with Subaru in the past... The clearance and AWD are generally fairly useful for our roads and climate so they are extremely popular around here. Pricing is comparable with Volvo and Saab and the clientele is similar (for the Outback that is... we still get the boy racer crowd in STI's etc).
