Gotta agree with you, given a choice I'd go back and choose points and condenser over a totally unreliable excuse for an ignition system like the SAAB DIC and I recall seeing it listed as one of Saab's innovations. It's really lame. I just hope they are available at a reasonable price point for many years as they will be needed. Saab should have been made to provide free lifetime replacements for that thing.
Capacitive discharge ignitions systems had not succeeded in automotive use prior to Saab , so why did they go with this ?
