Number 9 is a very good point - one I'd forgotten completely. A friend's father in law drives a first generation M45. Not the best looking car on the planet (but not bad looking, either) but a fantastic ride, exceptionally well built, and plenty fast. The new M45s, like pretty much every current Infiniti, is a simply gorgeous car inside and out - one I'd certainly own.
But yeah, the 9-5 is hard to beat. I think a 5-series might win "fun to drive" having tons more power and being RWD, and a Jag or Benz of the 90s might win the luxury/ride contest, but the 9-5 does a fine job of bringing together a lot of attributes including reliability. I've not really heard much in the way of complaints on them - at least not complaints that affect the ability of the car to get you home every night...
