Some other crossover and smaller SUVs are Saturn VUEs, The Chevy Equinox and clones, GMC just came out with a version. Toyota has the new RAV4. I believe Mazda has introduced another varient and the Koreans make some interesting smaller SUVs and seem to have conquered the quality issues.
Many of the SUVs you mention are "full sized" the MDX, Pilot, M Class, Pathfinder, 4-Runner, and XC-90 for example are are direct competitors for the 9-7X and don't really do substantially better in fuel economy than the 15-20/21 EPA ratings of the 9-7X. The only V-8 availible in that your line up is the XC-90 and the 9-7X is about $15,000 less!
With $6,000 in rebates availible and a sticker just north or south of $40k depending on 5.3i V8 or the 4.2i six, the 9-7X is wort a look and the driving expererience, handling, power and luxury features are class leading. Also free 3/36 scheduled maintenance. Leases on 9-7Xs are what I call stupid cheap, or 0% or the $4,000 rebate, plus $1,500 Labor Day bonus cash, plus a $500 Conquest Rebate in SoCal
