Omigosh.
Saturday an acquaintance (& consumate car guy, & a great individual) tossed me the keys to his pristine '64 AC Cobra and told me to take her for a spin. I've appreciated the car for years so a chance to pilot it was the stuff of dreams. (I had to force myself to forget the car's current value is approaching $1 million... ouch.) This car is, I'm told, one of the best sorted out Cobras in existance and now I have to agree. It's absolutely gorgeous but I didn't expect it to drive soooo well. Tight, rattle free, no wandering, no cowl shake, precise steering, amazing brakes (upgraded), very impressive all round. And, of course the power delivery is astonishing. This particular car runs its original 289 small block, but being an ex-racer the internals are very stout. Compression over 12, drinking race fuel through Weber carbs, sending the noise thru 4" pipes. Very raucous and intoxicating. It's licensed for street use, so I played with it along the local country roads. Absolutely thrilling!
