I don't really know why you think a HUMMER is so bad, and so much worse than an Explorer or a Jeep. I don't understand what you mean by "all the bad that goes with it". I can only imagine that it is a lack of information on your part regarding fuel consumption or perceived "green" issues. Here are some numbers to help you:
Jeep Grand Cherokee Premium:
11 mpg city, 14 mpg highway, carbon footprint 15.2 tons per year
Ford Exporer V8
13 mpg city, 18 mpg highway, carbon footprint 12.2 tons per year
HUMMER H3
14 mpg city, 19 mpg highway, carbon footprint 12.2 tons per year
Porche Cayenne S
13 mpg city, 19 mpg highway, carbon footprint 12.2 tons per year
So... how is the Cayenne or HUMMER so much worse than the others? Clearly it isn't. This information is readily available, I used http://www.fueleconomy.gov.
I hope this helps you.
Dennis
