Especially if you want the fun toys from AMG. They are all wonderful cars, but you gotta understand what you're getting into. It's like buying a Porsche, just with more doors, seats and a front engine.
Ten years ago a Benz owning friend told me he could count on spending $500 (minimum) to $1,000 (more normal) every time it went in for service. That was in the late '90s and he went to a reasonably priced indy shop.
Price out what some standard parts will run, then make a decision. Pick parts you'll likely replace by say, 150K:
Exhaust system
Brakes (calipers, rotors, pads)
Radiator
Water pump
PS pump,
Shocks
Starter
Then find out what labor rates are in your area. Nothing wrong with having a Benz, ya just gotta be prepared.
