I believe you're referring to the new for 2010 Fiesta, which has been universally praised by darn near everybody. Insofar as the 2010 Focus, well, it is for the most part a refreshed original (2000) Focus minus a hatch (with a much better interior.) based on the American car manufacturing philosophy of the mid-90's. The story I've heard on the current Focus is that it took Ford so long to work out the quality issues when they debuted the car in 2000 that when it came down time to either "refresh" the US Focus or to homologate the highly-regarded global Focus, they opted to to just refresh the "OG" Focus to maximize their ROI. Unfortunately, the refresh went overbudget and therefore cost nearly as much, if not more, than the homologation would have for the global one. If they had brought over the European one - a Focus ST, preferably, there'd be one of those in my garage today. A current US-spec Focus? Wouldn't even give it the time of day (although, not a bad rental...)
