I'm not convinced that (old) Saabs need a Saab mechanic. They just need a good mechanic who is open minded. Often in rural areas, these types are the ones other people bring other nice euro cars to... ask around... If you don't drive the 9-3 regularly, you may find it costs you more to maintain than if you do drive it (though if your commute is very short, that also will be hard on it). And even so, you need *somebody* to work on it occasionally if you keep it...
as far as the Focus or Hyundai, I've noticed a lot of very rusty Focii and likewise for the lower end Hyundai. In our climate, the bodies of these perforate before you'd get to the point where you really need a mechanic much anyway...
