Ed,
I always read your posts and have been following what you're trying to do--and it's very cool. Very "outside the box". The block that you started-with came out of SteveSis Viggen right? It would be a shame if you had to go to a stand-alone control system.
In my other job (besides pounding my head on T-7) one of the things I do is build engineered stand-alone and integrated control systems used in the petro/chem environment--so swinging over to the machine level/development side of things has meant learning a lot. I wish I was at the stage where I had something concrete to offer to you right now...but mostly what I have now is a bunch of questions, theories, and testing. However, besides my work, I do have access to a few other resources like a phd candidate in spark ignited engine research, a really good friend that runs one of the Penn State engineering labs, another really good friend who works for Siemens VDO and is the one of the onsite bus-wizard developing the gauge array for Harley (who will be in Houston this weekend), and some other controls guys.
Anyway, my boss flew into town last night and today we're headed-out to Port Arthur to one of the plants that got hit pretty hard by Rita, but if you can give me a call tonight/tomorrow I'd appreciate it, 832-814-2309 (cell). I have some vacation and frequent flyer miles and would really love the opportunity to meet-up with you next week if you think that might be a possibility.
Drew
