Lately the BPC valves seem to have a short life and maybe causing ECU valve driver failures. Apparently the valves overheat and plug up when the potting around a coil melts and gets in the air passages. This maybe an issue with potting that can't take the heat and/or the 2.5 Ohm coils generating too much heat, or some other fault. Older valves were not potted and had 3.0 Ohm coils. Plugged valves provide either unregulated boost or base boost depending on which air passage is plugged. Plugging can take weeks or months to occur and result in a slow change in performance. A plugged (or good) valve does not cause ECU driver failure inless a coil shorts. A shorted coil will also short the ECU valve driver transistor, causing fuse # 5 to blow. If a new valve is installed with a shorted transistor the new valve will not function properly and will be quickly cooked. Before installing a new valve or if fuse 5 is blown, check the resistance between the outer contacts of the BPC valve harness connector to ground, the resistance should be > 1 M Ohms.
