It could, but there would be little advantage to it. If you wanted to weld them end to it would definitaly be a good sized core, but as Jonathan says, you'd be better off with a $200 ebay IC.
The only reason that I could see using the stock cores, would be if you stacked them on top of each other, welded long end tanks and ran it sideways. that would be a great high flow solution (4X more CFM then stock - depending on endtank design) but it may be over kill and would probably be difficult to fit/mount.
