On the track, a clutch-type diff will make the car understeer - you need to drive it differently than an open diff car. On the street, they can be chattery at low speeds. On the plus side, they are adjustable and rebuildable. Whoever tells you that a clutch diff isn't worth it because the clutches wear out has never used one and/or is just repeating what they read about them on the intarweb.
Torsens generally won't make the car understeer but they generate a lot of heat, are heavy, and are not adjustable. if you get a wheel in the air, they act like an open diff. Trouble is when the spinning wheel comes back down to the tarmac it can break the diff, axle, cv etc. This is why rally cars tend to have clutch diffs (Saab 99 rally diffs were clutch-type). During normal operation, some people don't like the feel of the power being transferred to the spinning wheel. I have not sensed that though but this is on cars with oem torsen diffs.
For a street car with front wheel drive, a torsen is the better choice because it acts like an open diff until you spin a wheel. For a race car, clutch or torsen both work plenty well and there are plenty of track records set by cars with welded diffs too (do not weld a diff on a street car).
