My WRX driving friend was telling me about how a bunch of Scooby autocross guys are putting massive front bars on their cars, and sticking with stock rear bars. Counter intuitive, but he explained exactly as you said - the macpherson struts up front - under load - are relatively unstable and camber is affected adversely.
Anyway, I've got a stock front bar, SAS rear bar, my own rear brace, plus a diff locker, and I find my SPG quite neutral. It's on Konis and Abbott springs. On the other hand, my stock '02 MINI Cooper S with John Cooper Works kit gets the tail out if its greasy enough outside. The car is quite nimble, much more so than my SPG or my 99.
