In this pix you can see the bright clean metal of the head. Note the as cast surface of the combustion chamber as well as the machined flat area. Also note the edge of the head gasket and how its recesses are also clean. The valves seem to be staying black. The top of the cylinder wall, unswept by the rings, is also barely visable in this pix. It was clean as well, but had a yellow or bronze appearance, but otherwise was free of deposits.
This pix was cropped from a dual image formed by the stereoscopic bore scope head. The image when view with the display glasses with two displays gives the viewer a good 3-D image. With the joy stick, one can make accurate measurements of laternal distances and depth. With this we were seeing deposits thickness of .002" to .006"
With the joystick, one can make the end of the scope bend and look back up to the head. But this is a limited range of motion.
Things look wet from fuel. We first did a compression test and did not have the fuse for the fuel pump pulled. I suspect that this fuel wetness might have increased the contrast of the pictures.
thanks to Landjet for including me in this adventure!
