Well you're probably gonna get 30 responses on this, with 30 completely different suggestions - there are a lot of possibilities.
But if you really like the C900, how about this:
Buy a "late model" NA car with a really good body. Rust is pretty tough to deal with, so by getting a good body you'll be free to put your $$ into mechanicals.
You can make the NA car your daily driver while you rebuild the engine/trans from the SPG at your leisure, as well as fixing/buying any other components you need.
Then when everything is ready, transfer all the SPG bits to the NA car. End result: a car that's great mechanically and isn't gonna succumb to rust in a year. Plus when you register it, it's on the records as an NA car so you'll probably save on taxes and insurance rates!
