To put the battery in the trunk, I got like 25' of I think 0 or 2 gauge battery cable from Napa, you only need about 17' o so I think. I ran this cable under the panels in the trunk, under the rear seat and under the carpet along the drivers side door sill, then up through the wiring passthrough above the drivers side heater outlet, and attached it to the starter (where the pos cable normally runs) using a tab also from Napa crimped onto the cable, and a battery clamp from Napa to attach to the battery.
The battery went in the right side of the trunk where the tool kit would go. It's a fitment code 8/group size 58 battery, and fits perfectly under the board in the trunk without having to cut the floor out or anything. I made 3 little sheetmetal 'tabs' (I'll post a pic) that I bolted into the floor that hold the bottom lip of the battery down, but you could use a tie down, or cut into the floor and use a new battery box. This worked great for me, I can't pull it out, and am not planning on getting the car upside-down anytime soon.
I had a spare grounding cable out of an 8V turbo I parted out, so I used that to ground the battery to that support beam that runs up the middle of the trunk, but you could use a length of the same cable with a battery clamp on it, you only need like a foot or 16". I just ground the paint off the support where there was already a hole and bolted it down.
I think materials including the battery can be done for $70-$75 depending on what thickness cable you get, as 0 and 00 gauges are pretty expensive, like $2/foot and $2.50/foot I think is what we saw, I don't remember if I used 0 or like 1 or 2 now, but it obviously doesn't need to be heavier than what is on there already.
