Simply put, an injector contains a coil. When elect is applied, a magnetic field surrounds this coil and this magnetic field is stored electrical energy in the form of a magnetic field. Whenever the applied electricity begins to fluctuate (as in pulsing DC in this case), the magnetic field collapses and expands at the frequency of the pulse. This CHANGING magnetic field also creates electricity in the wires which the coil is composed of (called inductance), creating opposition known as impedance and is measured in ohms. There are different ways to change this impedance (wire length, wire diameter, etc...) and injectors are not just coils, but are solenoids which adds more stuff to calculate. the bottom line is, in the world of engineering, everything is mathematics and engineers need numbers to calculate. So, in order to calculate stuff like injection, voltages needed, etcetera lot of numbers are needed like the amount of impedance in the injector.
