And the problem you will find is that the "HOT" T5 ECU only came in the later 99 model year in the manual transmission form. Therefore, because no auto "HOTs" for T5, this would not be possible for you, and is of course a "showstopper."
As an FYI for others reading this, the 99 HOT ECU (5spd) will work in the 97 and 98 (and obviously 99) NG900s. There is some discussions, and I saw one here, that it will not work in the NGs (not sure on 94-96). This is false, as I ran a 99 9-3SE 5spd HOT ECU in my 97 NG900, and damien ran it in his 98. I ran this way for around a year, and even drove it to Boston when frank was tuning last Spring.
Because I went to a SQR stage 3 (through JAK before JSP) is the only reason it was pulled from my car. A nice, fairly inexpensive upgrade for those wanting a "factory" bump. Now it sits in the spare parts bin I have in the garage.
