As Kevin said, a friend of mine installed the BTM and did not get any spark at all. After a lots of trial&error found out it was the ignition module that was too weak to trigger the BTM.
But what comes to the benefits of the BTM: I'm currently using it with stock (16 deg) timing, partially disabled mechanical retard and with about 17PSI max boost. Here in Europe we're only getting the MTBE-formulated "green gas" which is very prone to knocking (yet the octane is 98, equals to your premium). Without the BTM I had to back the timing all the way to 14deg to get decent stability at high boost.
BTM made it possible to dial the ignition back to stock 16 while still having steady high boost. At the moment I'm using _VERY_ little extra retard from the BTM. It is still enough to stabilize things a lot.
Getting a bleed valve for the BTM is high on my list of priorities. But even with the current settings there is a huge difference in low- and mid boost response with 16 deg vs. 14 deg timing. I'd say the BTM is worth every cent, including the $$ for shipping it to Europe :)
