Aom,
Hope all's well!
There is a lot of engine potential to the H motor without installing the 16V cylinder head and we have seen early 8V turbo engines towards 300 BHP with the right modifications.
The 1984 900T employs a NA camshaft, has the early APC system, no intercooling, and a small 45 trim T3 Garrett turbocharger.
Upgrading to a later style (1986 and up 900) APC connector would allow for installation of the later control units which would allow for a vast improvement in charge pressures. Camshaft could be modified to allow for full performance turbo parameters and OEM cylinder head could also be modified. Turbocharger upgrade could be an option but the 45 trim should allow for up to 195+ BHP without use of an intercooler.
Many 8V users install the later 900 intercooler systems which can be found inexpensively in salvage. A front mount IC would provide even more enhancement.
Fueling is somewhat limited through the CIS and a fuel distributor upgrade may be required when getting past the 200 and up BHP levels.
Other fueling tricks can be employed to the CIS to provide more fuel such as the cold start valve actuator (acts as a 5th injector) which is not highly recommended but does provide additional fueling on a budget.
Best Regards,
GaryK at SWEDISH DYNAMICS,INC.
