I'm not saying the little valve stems won't work we just stay on the safe side for reliability and longevity. We've also done '99 up heads for customers that used Maptun software and they (Maptun) even recommended that we go the the larger valve stems. We use our own design ("wider") guide wise so no flow rate decrease there and what little the smaller stems themselves help flow we've found to be negligible on our flow bench. Otherwise I agree with your input especially in an OHC application where there is no side loading from a rocker arm like an OHV engine. Another factor for us is that we've come up with such a great dual spring and titanium retainer combination for the 7mm stems which we also use with our custom lightweight solid lifters. Anyway good point! Take care, Dave
