I had a similar experience after practice launches :-( Posted by John Williams [Email] (#1982) [Profile/Gallery] (more from John Williams) on Wed, 20 Dec 2006 09:53:00 In Reply to: hey there :-), jak [Profile/Gallery] , Wed, 20 Dec 2006 07:39:17 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I have to say that when I decided to go to the track, I went out and practiced some launches to get an idea of how and what to do. Well after the second hard launch from a dig, my tranny started making horrible whinning, harmonic and gear-lash sounds and it was pretty bad. I decided not to try any more launches as I did not want to walk and or get towed home. After about 2 weeks, I could hardly get my car to stay in third gear at all and it was making a lot of annoying noises, I replaced the tranny with a claimed 89k one and it is much better in shifting, but I do have some wierd gear-lash noise when I let off the gas and decel. This is the only place it does it, light load, acceleration no problem, I have recently realized it is rpm related, that is it makes the noises at about 3200-3600rpm, once I go above or below that rpm range, the noises disapear and all is quiet... Good Luck, John
