Never swap a MITS TD04 for a GARRETT; its a major pain!
The problem is the Oil Drain Connection from your GARRETT T25 won't fit the one for your MITSUBISHI TD04 on your SAAB 9000. The flange at the oil drain port doesn't fit. Also the pipe has to be bent and thus kinked and you might not get a good fit at the engine pan/block. You can try to grind the flange down a little, and bend the pipe but why should you risk oil loss?
The only way to do it is to order the TD04 drain connection from EBAY or a Turbo supplier and have hose made. However in the holidays, mail and EBAY takes 4x as long. Also there is tremendous confusion in the TD04 T04 TT25 GT 25 TD05 nomeclature for both Garrett and Mitsubishi and somebody might send you the wrong thing anyway, which is what happened to me, not once but twice
My car has been on jackstands for 1 month waiting for the right part and I am frustrated.
Yesterday I got so PO'd I drove to a Turbo supplier and found...argggh there online catalog was false!!!They dont stock anything they list! Whats happened to the business ethics world?
Beware everything in this world for Turbo Aftermarket flange connections has forgotten the TD04 Mitsubishi. The newer year 2000 + turbos dominate and Turbo suppliers cater to these units.
Also most of these new Turbo shops are fly by night businesses run by kids who are not good businessman and very rude and arrogant on the phone-- some of them hang up on you or mouth off to you. Its simply impossible to order a fitting from them. They only want $1000 orders, thats how arrogant they are!!
SAAB wants $150 for the connection; the only problem is its not in stock, and I'm afarid i will pay for it and they will send me the GARRETT line anyyway and I will be stuck with it. Many of the counter people cannot read Fiche and distinguish between an AERO and a 9000.
!!!!I finally am giving up and putting the GARRETT back on. !!!
