Hi Rob, you did the right thing, in late '90 Saab quit casting that goofy flap in! One possible reason for this would be that EGR port above the flap but it's only found in the early cars that never had EGR??? Others have said that it helps spool up the turbo but I've proved that theory wrong many times over! As far as your post below my injectors are (ironically) $42.25 each flow matched and to rebuild them including flow matching is $20 each plus parts and I use viton O-rings as well which comes out $29.75 each. I had ask about the Totalseal rings because hi-tech race engines now days use more second ring end gap than the top ring to bleed the pressure off that gets trapped between the top and second rings which disturbs ring seal. You did OK because the most important thing is good quality ring material and especially the ductile top ring that your Totalseal rings come with. The dislodging problem wouldn't be noticeable for a street driven car anyway so you'll be fine! Take care, Dave
