Nashvegas,
Hope all's well!
The TE05 should be the same unit from the 1989 SPG to the 1994 900 Turbo convert. and any unit would be a retrofit over stock. Also, any GARRETT T3 complete turbocharger w/sastegate actuator would also fit the 1990 900.
Mitsubishi uses the piston ring style oil seals on both turbine and compressor which start with a narrow gap on seal ring. This gap increases as time, temperature, etc. takes it's toll and oil bypassing can be a symptom that the seals require replacement.
If the TE05 is still making full boost pressures, a DIY overhaul is possible wherein you replace seals, bearings, thrust assemblies, etc. to eliminate oil bypassing, turbine shaft play, thrust, etc. Full cart. assemblies are also very common if beyond the scope of DIY repair and this would only include the internal bearing housing w/rotating assembly which allows you to retain the turbine housing, compressor housing, and wastegate/actuator assembly to save $ on a complete turbocharger.
Best of luck with the 1990 and your fix!
Regards,
GSK at SWEDISH DYNAMICS,INC.
