I think that is a good observation, less rotating mass and inertia to get that mass moving. I did it and timed my car from a one point to another and starting in second gear and then into third, it was a little faster, not a lot, but a little.
On a 2.0, the vibration at idle is not bad at all, but with poly mounts and my 2.3 motor, there is some moderate vibration at idle, mirrors buzz, dash buzzes at idle.
This is all vibration at idle only, once going you cannot tell or feel any vibration.
I thought it felt like a lightly lightened flywheel, but its not a huge change, just a subtle one and if vibration is a concern, leave em in there and just put in some high octane fuel or something :-)
