Nice Write Up CFishgo..

I wen to NOVICE school earlier this Spring to take my '99 saab out and srive it around some cones in our local North Texas SCCA Solo II event. It was a lot of fun, and I was surprised (and so where many of the other novices) just how much our cars can take. I tried trail braking, but I wasn't too good at it.. What I found useful was punching the brakes hard to get the front to bite and slide the back-end around to go around tight 90 degree-like corners.. Our track was pretty techinical, and I was able to manage everything well. The slaloms and offset gates were easy.. just point your car and go ;-P my problem was the skid pad.. While my car picked up it's interior wheel and I managed to not understeer.. I could not taje that corner any faster.. I wish I could.. I just entered into it the best I could, maintained my speed, and got out of it and on the gas as soon as I could. BTW, if you push the car too soon, my car tended to light up the tires and push the front end out of the corner. Kind of a pricey mistake at the end of the day, because it chewed up my tires pretty good.

All-in-all it was a lot of fun and plan on attending next years.. Oh, my car was also classed too high. The 6 point brace I have on the car, put it in DSP.
