Re: driving a 2002 saab 9/5 aero and or a 2000 9 3 viggen at altitude. Aprox 4,500 ft above seal level. He claims that saab puts out 21 psi of boost due, only to a variable boost turbo that the car is equipt with. He states that other cars like evos, subaru etc, put out aprox 15 psi at this elevation and that is why his and my saabs can inch out the prev. mentioned cars in a race. He claims that the turbo is adjusted by a computer to get to 21 psi's to compensate for the lack of performance at the altitude. I claim that its not a variable boost turbo function as so much the apc, and o2 sensor regulating boost, and I dont believe the turbo puts out 21 psi's just to compensate for higher altitude. To sum it up I dont believe Saab has anything special over other cars to gain boost other than apc.... Whats your opinion...
