Hi Wayne, the 9000 flywheels are the same thickness through 1990. Taking any amount off of the flywheel face other than just a clean up would be two wrongs to make a right plus your clutch disk springs could end up contacting your flywheel bold heads. I would say that you have a slave cylinder problem or it may just need to be gravity blead or more than likely worn linkage in the pedal area. I offset machine the pivot hole for a bronze bushing to get a little more travel and of course to get back to mimimum specs. Dave
