Unless you know what kind of signals these things are putting out, don't mix & match.
For an LH2.2 c900 you can use a Volvo 2.3L Turbo meter if you also use the Volvo ECU, injectors (which are larger), injector ballasts (they're low-impedance), and a stock 900T 2.5 bar fuel press. reg. You need to re-arrange a couple pins on the meter connector or splice in a Volvo connector. I do this on one of my 900s. The meters are plentiful in the pull-a-part; the car passes emissions fine.
For LH2.4, I know some RWD Volvo guys are using 3-inch meters from, I believe, newer FWD Volvos. Not sure how this would translate in the Saab world, though -- maybe search turbobricks perf. forum.
Not many folks tweak c900 ECUs -- check out ECU Projects.com for more info on it. Also see turbobricks and search "Jetronic".
I don't know why the meters are flaky, but they're a lot better than the vane-type deals that VW/BMW guys have to contend with...
