Viggen engine swap performance upgrades Posted by Viggen Aero [Email] (#977) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Viggen Aero) on Sat, 6 Jun 2009 04:28:38 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I am replacing my blown B235R from my 01 Viggen with a low mileage 00 9-5 Aero B235R. I have never done this befor. I am a very advanced home mechanic and my friend is a VERY experienced mechanic and he offered to help.
The replacement engine is stripped to the bone. So I will have to swap all components from the Viggen.
I plan on replacing all seals, gaskets, idler and tensioning pulleys, hoses, thermostat ( waterpump was already done) and vacuum lines, etc. What else should I replace or check?
I plan to install a new clutch kit. Should I stick with the OEM SAAB Viggen clutch or are there better choices? I was considering an aluminum flywheel from Genuinesaab.
Should I pull the oil pan and check for sludge? What do I do if I find any? I don't know what PCV version my Viggen has. Should I update?
Any tips on removal and installation of engine to make things go smoother?
I have a heavy duty cherry picker.
All advice and input welcome.
