Wheel width is a concern with aftermarket wheels; lowering the car will decrease the tolerances even further. Proceed carefully.
I have an 87 SPG; the SPG springs lower the car almost an inch from stock 900T configuration. I had trouble finding wheels to fit the pattern (114 x 4) and offset. 7.5 definitely too wide; even 7" looked too wide so I backed off and gave up. Others have claimed good results by redrilling super aero wheels, but I can't justify that kind of money for used wheels.
Justin vanAbrams (spelling off, forgive me Justin) has posted some interesting info on his site; go to http://www.sacsaabs.org/ and poke around there.
If you find good wheels to fit the car, please post results. I'm beating my SPG wheels to death changing snow and summer tires twice a year.
