question about my '85 SPG. Posted by Gordon [Email] ![]() ![]() |
I have a pretty nice 1985 SPG. I bought it a year ago, and since have got for it:
Windshield, tune-up, K&N air filter, floor mats, A TON of mechanical work done, tires, CD player& upgraded f/r speakers, larger whale tail, side vent covers, VDO cockpit guages, muffler, bosch spark plugs, plus oil changes every 3,000 miles, ALWAYS.
Before me the owner got: New headliner, seats refurbished, new carpeting, as well as a few other things.
Soon, I will have the glass tinted, have lowering springs, shocks &sway bars installed.
The car will look very close to perfect.
This is m,y question: The engine, has 264K miles, and runs/drives/starts very good. As far as I know, it is all original. The turbo works, but is not like new. I considered having a new one installed, but people have told me that the engine should first be rebiult, as the old one could not handle a new turbo. So then I thought, ok, maybe I'll just start with a new APC, lets say one from SPG9, I dont have the cash to have the engine rebuilt, then have a new turbo and APC put in, but I do for just a new APC.
Would I benifit from a new APC? Would I notice a power increase?
Thanks!
Gordon
