couple thoughts on high boost

I thought of two reasons why high boost can ruin an engine. First, maybe the higher boost is out of the efficiency range of the smaller turbo. It probably heats up the intake air more and creates more backpressure and higer exhaust temps than a larger turbo might. Secondly, the hotter air is probably too much for the small original intercooler to cool off. Does this sound reasonable? I would love to have about $1000 to buy some labview equipment to get real engine data.
