I suspect Alfa will be back in the U.S. within a year or two - I heard MY2003 thrown out, but now it's looking like MY2004. The next-gen of Alfas are already certified for engine & chassis with the EPA & DOT, so the only barrier is the dealer network. With GM invested in Fiat, getting that dealer network should not be a problem - I've heard they plan on selling Alfas out of Saab dealers... I can only hope!

I got back from England not too long ago, I loved seeing all the Alfas over there. The 166 is pretty darned cool looking for what it is, but I would love to have a 156 wagon in the garage. We'll see... :)
