On the C900's, the steering rack was hard bolted to the sub frame. It was not going to move. No rubber!
On the NG900's, it is mounted on the firewall, which can act like a sounding board. So they isolated it in squishy rubber. The whole firewall can also deflect like a cookie sheet.
The 94 and 95&1/2 production had a large diameter cast aluminum steering rack body. Later production had a narrow steel fabricated steering rack. They kept the old mount points and clamps, and filled the the much much biger gap with more rubber. So the later production, to current, is fitted with a 'just and more rubber' solution. That was really dumb, very characteristic of corporate mentality.
