Dawes MBC & Knock Detection in C900??? Answers?

Forgive me if this has been hashed to death... I haven't found a definitive answer on a pretty basic question.
I have an 87 SPG. (Details on mods below.) I'm targeting a max sustained boost of no more than 18-20 lbs. (I don't need the fastest car in town, I just want loads of reliable, available power. I figure 18 lbs boost will do it.)
I have ordered a dawesdevice boost controller, but now begin to question whether this defeats knock detection or just pressure map. Probably a stupid question, but not as stupid as installing without getting an answer.
Thanks. And Cheers! for any info.

87 SPG: The Stealthbomber
Modified APC, AID, K&N open filter, sport exhaust, 3.0 bar FPR. Planning upgrade to 24lb injectors shortly to avoid lean burn at high boost... currently hitting 7/8 redzone before knock detection kicks in. Otherwise about at design target.
