Heather,
I think that you would rather place these questions in the classic 900 bulletin board and not the performance board. I'll help you though. Your problem probably is not the fuel pump, but the fuel ECU. This is very common on 89'900 Saabs.(I have one in my fleet)The Bosch LH control unit is located against the passenger side kick panel under the carpet. They are known to fail, either running poorly, starting and idling fine but with no rev ability, or the computer simply will not energize the fuel pump relay, resulting in your scenario, no fuel pump. If this is the case, your dealer will have a fuel pump hard wire kit available that will allow you to bypass the LH and run the pump manually with an 8 valve relay(84' or 85'). You may indeed have a bad fuel pump, which is located in the trunk under the parcel floor behind the back seat. This can be tested with a jumper wire, but BE CAREFUL with electricity near a gas tank. If your husband has no experience with Saabs, then for your own good, PLEASE take it to a professional. It will be worth the money for the experience on jobs such as these. It is very common for novices to break the fuel line elbows on the pump orrifice, resulting in a VERY serious job of replacing the fuel lines. Take it to a shop for this problem. I still think it's your ECU. Bosch part# is 000 280 564. (Green label). Built by Satan himself. Buy a rebuilt from your dealer for @$350-400. -TERRY-
