Abbotts stopped using K&N after a large batch of faulty filters, they also wanted to make the move away from the "common" air filter and offer a unique and superior product in a class higher.

Here in the UK the K&N filter is the choice of "wideboys", whereas ITG are suppliers to F1 and Touring car racing, Abbotts are the only people to really use ITG filters for road use, traditionally they had been too expensive, I guess they must buy from ITG in bulk. Having been to Abbotts place and seen their flow equipment they found that the ITG filter flowed better and offered better filtration characteristics than any other filter. Last year while I was having a power upgrade fitted to my 9-5 they were testing filters on their flowbench - Pipercross, Green, Ramair, K&N and ITG. The ITG came out tops in all counts.

Abbotts have also been at SAAB tuning for over 12 years now, so I have respect for their choice of products...

And Derek, an air filter in a standard housing is worth around 3-5 horsepower, its not the kind of power increase you can "feel" especially with the 9-5's electronic throttle system...
