Damn. I bought a turbo from a Saab-specific salvage yard about 2 months ago. I had expected lower boost levels, as everyone suggested, since it's a Mitsu and not the fan-favorite Garrett. So, I was content with my 15-16 psi and no lag. Well, after yesterday's day o' fun with 22 psi of boost, today it went back to 15-16 after only a few highway runs over 20 psi.

Why? The damn turbo is blowing by oil! It is not smoking, though (I am not crop dusting out of the back) This is why I only had 15-16 psi before. The oil is blown by into the intake side, and loads up the intercooler and turbo BPV with oil. This really sucks. Now, I am just guessing that it is the turbo. How else could oil get on the intake side of the engine? Oil pressure is still very good, but maybe TOO high (over 70 psi sometimes). Argg, I am frustrated, once again. :(

At least before it reverted to its old ways I was able to absolutely smoke a VTEC Prelude. I was on my way to the Mid-Atlantic Import Drag Racing Nationals (Papadakis & co in the house) and so was this guy; he was running his car on the track today. He ran a 14.99 1/4 mi, and he could not keep up with me on the highway! : ) I just wish I could fix this blow by problem. Looks like turbonetics is calling my name.

Mike

PS: Dr. Jones, I presume my gearbox is just fine.
