and it's not it! D'oh! The hose is dry (not bone dry, but not dripping with oil, either; a little oil in there is normal), or expanded from having oil sitting in it.
It really must be the turbo. Talking with some mechanic friends confirms that this is a possibility, and a common one at that. Oil is getting by the impeller shaft seal on the compressed side, shoving it into the intercooler, the BPC solenoid, the TBPV, the wastegate diapragm, the throttle housing, the intake manifold, and just about everywhere that oil should not be. Sucks! We just went out and drove it; with the changes we made yesterday, it is still better than the day before that, but this oil thing really sucks. I am having bad luck with oil blow by on turbos!
I'll see what happens tomorrow when I talk to the yard that sold me the turbo. Wish me luck!
