track -- liability and all... Usually there will be instructors and driving courses available. Get yourself some tracktime ALONE without the competition there. You'll get some great tips on driving. In fact, even if you have less HP, you may win on skill...
Also, beware of the Honda if you don't know exactly what he has. Some of these cars, "riced" or not, can be hot. Most aren't, but occasionally one may bite you. Remember these cars are light, and aerodynamically slippery (generally, and certainly more so than a C900...). Some of these cars are pumping upwards of 750 hp in pure race form -- and this from 1.5 or 1.6 liters! =:-O
The RX-7 will likely stomp on you. You don't mention what mods you may have done to your car. Having RWD plus a much lighter chassis the RX has the advantage here.
In a nutshell, know your competition before you do it.
