Well, first of all, 0 to 60 times will never really compare to

a RWD pony car. A Saab just isn't built for it. FWD is your first problem -- when launching, weight transfer lifts the car off the drive wheels, which will invariably cause wheel spin. So, to counteract this, you just give it less throttle. And of course this is counter productive to 0 - 60 times...
Where a Saab really accells (pun not intended --- no, really...) is 30 to 50, 50 to 80 times. THEN you can run with the big boys.
But I gotta tell you, the times you posted on your "crude" test was pretty impressive for the car. You prolly won't get much better, BUT you can improve the 30 to 80 times. Saabs forte has always been rolling starts, not stop-light racing per se. (Although we all have some good "kill" stories to tell...)
A true test is to take your car to a drag strip. They can accurately record your times automatically with no bias, and no mistakes. WASSAAB, 85Sled and I did so this past Friday. The biggest weak link for me was the driver. Need to work on my RT's... ;-P
Another key forte for the Saab is handling. Though never on a par with, say, a Porsche, it's pretty damn good for a family hauler, grocery getter, and sometime pick-up truck! For an all-around "utility" vehicle, you cannot beat it.
Good luck with your times, and happy Saabing!
